Call for Volunteers

AI Assisted

This project is our first experience with crowdsourcing anything so we are learning along the way. Please forgive our mistakes.

We believe that the best way to collaborate with the project is by building your first Pepa in your own home or that of a loved one and share your experiences with us. Each deployment will be different for each person, but the human condition is common among all and Pepa serves as the governed baseline.

But specifically, we could use help with these

Section titled “But specifically, we could use help with these”
AreaWhat we need
Clinical and caregiver groundingHow caregivers really handle health talk at home. Whether the eight use cases match real life. What Pepa must never do. Stories from the field, anonymized.
Testing our explanationsPepa must answer “why now?” on request, and so far only its author has read those answers. Read one and tell us what it meant to you (ten minutes), or sit with a printed scenario and react out loud (a conversation). Your choice.
Voice and SpanishPuerto Rican Spanish and Spanglish speakers, older voices, and caregivers who translate, so the Spanish has human flavor and isn’t machine translated. Other Spanish dialects are welcome too. Start with Oye Pepa! (en español), which has its own detailed instructions. The biggest goal? A true Puerto Rican (non-cloned) voice in AI (es_PR-pepa-middle).
AreaWhat we need
Break the designSecurity and privacy people, AI governance people, and anyone with their own tools. Try to break what we propose. Anyone who finds something gets credit in the dated ledger. The Reasoning Arm Call for Review is our first challenge and it has its own detailed instructions. And there are the GitHub repos to test also.
Build your first PepaThe best collaboration is your own deployment, at home or at a loved one’s, with field notes.
AreaWhat we need
Legal or nonprofit structureAdvice on what form this should take.
TranslationsThe project should reflect the way people — not machines — talk, especially for seniors and caregivers.
A funding or grant partnerResearching and experimenting are expensive. Pepa has only one designer/builder, which limits the funding we can pursue alone for the federal grants we’ve identified.
Advisory voicesA few people we can ask, not a formal board.
Pepa in a BoxA concept to explore how Pepa would be deployed in an emergency (e.g. after a fall or diagnosis), which leaves a solo builder helpless because it requires a team. It could be a business opportunity for someone else, not us. We have deliberately left it undefined.

Please never send real patient data, only anonymized stories and opinions, Use our fictitious characters Efraín, Nydia and Farmacia Quimbal from our Synthetic Fixtures. We name no one without their opt-in. Pepa is experimental software and not a medical device.

Please send all assistance offers by email to the Editor, and we will consider them promptly.

Thank you.
